Who Am I?
I am a beloved child of God. Wow! Doesn’t that sound great…..well it is… but I have to tell you; it’s taken me years and years to really understand it, believe it, embrace it, and totally rely on it to get me through all that is “Debbie”. When I finally had this revelation, I understood that “all that is Debbie” includes ALL that is Debbie….the good, the bad, the ugly… the insecurities, the choices, the experiences, the victories, the failures, the joys, the junk…ALL that is Debbie. Not just the parts that I thought would make people like me, not just the parts that would help me be who other people wanted me to be, not just the parts that society said I should be, not just the pretty, positive, perky, perfumed, perceived as perfect stuff….but the nasty, negative, not so pretty, never perfect, junk as well. THAT is truly ALL that is Debbie, the REAL ME and with ALL of THAT, I am still a beloved Child of God! Thank you God!
My Family:
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. My husband and I have two adult children that I thank God for every day. I am proud to be a Texas girl, and my Daddy, my Momma and my brother and his two girls all live there. Together, with my husband’s family, we have a large extended family, (my husband is one of 7). We are a multi-cultural family, which I can honestly say has taught me many things that I would have otherwise never known and has blessed me in ways I never knew possible. I truly have an awesome family whom I love fiercely, often times imperfectly, but always fiercely. I also have a remarkable chosen family (aka friends- you know who you are) who I love doing life with. They love me, in spite of ALL that they know about me and they keep me grounded, accountable and encouraged.
As a Speaker:
Through God’s grace, I enjoy talking about how “unlocking the junk in my trunk”, has allowed me to embrace the REAL me and allow me to have REALationships with others. This is just my way of saying, that I am passionate about being transparent regarding my sin, brokenness, and “junk”; and sharing the redemptive power of God when He allows me to share my past (my junk), to potentially help your future.
I love to speak on leadership development and team building. I believe at the core of leadership development is learning to develop REALationships with those you lead. I also believe that the foundation for any successful TEAM is trust and trust is fostered through REALationships.
I currently speak to groups of Women through the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) and TEEN MOPS Ministries; encouraging them to embrace who God created them to be; as a Child of God, Wife, Mother and Relationship Builder.
I have also had the privilege of speaking and being the emcee at women’s retreats, leadership events, and leadership training venues.
My Career History:
I had a 26 year career in the finance industry in the sales, and management areas, as well as being a co-owner of a mortgage banking operation. I have found that this experience; specifically within the realms of leadership development, team building, customer service, and communication has taught me the importance of REALationships in ALL areas of life.
Serving Privileges:
I currently serve as a Coach to leaders of the MOPS (Mother’s of Preschoolers) Ministry and TEEN MOPS Ministry at church as well as serving as the Mentor Mom for MOPS. I absolutely love doing this. It allows me the privilege and blessing of getting to serve alongside some of the most amazing young women I have ever known. Mentoring young women has been a blessing that has come along as a by-product of my volunteer positions. Developing REALationships with young women as “influencers of others” is a passion of mine and when they allow me to “do life with them” I am always honored and blessed.
