As I look at this picture of my precious grandsons celebrating Easter at the cemetery…it hits me…their shirts say it all:
BECAUSE HE LIVES
Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. Today we celebrate the gift of Living HOPE that God has given us, through the death of Jesus on the cross for our sins and then His resurrection from the dead.
Sometimes having HOPE in this life can be difficult…but it is possible…even in a catastrophic storm…
I’M LIVING PROOF OF THAT… Because the one thing that I thought I couldn’t survive in this world…happened….and I am still here….Still standing upright…. even on the days I don’t really want to and that is because of my RELATIONSHIP with JESUS AND the Living HOPE I have in Him.
I know because of Jesus…Because He LIVES…I have Living HOPE that I will see my son Kamran again!
WE ARE A WORLD IN NEED OF HOPE!
LIVING HOPE…The HOPE we have in Jesus is often times the ONLY thing that keeps us from drowning in the storms of life…
Without LIVING HOPE, some people believe this WORLD IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS….and lets be honest,,,,IT ISN’T THAT GOOD sometimes.
Hanging on to HOPE, LIVING HOPE IS NECESSARY to get us THROUGH LIFE’S STORMS without them pulling us under.
When the storms of this world… whatever they may be… are pulling and tugging us down in the deep dark water, when WE ARE in over our heads, when the storm threatens to drown us…we can hang on to Living HOPE.
Hoping in God does not come naturally for sinners like us. We must preach it to ourselves, and INTENTIONAL put forth EFFORT, or we will give way to a downcast and disquieted spirit, AND drown in the storms of our life.
I feel like sometimes I am only 1 baby step away from the dark pain… from the “drowning point”…sometimes it’s easy to take that baby step…sometimes I don’t even need to take a step at all…one more wave in the storm will easily pull me under into the dark waters….it’s easy to give way to that wave….it’s easy because it takes NO EFFORT on my part….
Whereas…to get to the the kind of Hope that Floats, the kind of Living HOPE that saves us from being consumed by life’s storms…it takes EFFORT and INTENTIONALITY …NOT in & of ourselves but EFFORT & INTENTIONALITY towards our FAITH & TRUST IN GOD.
If you look at 1 Peter 1: 3-6 you will see the basis of what can ground our Living HOPE:
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.”
Whatever storm of life may be threatening to pull you under today, I pray that you will grab on to Living HOPE. This is my prayer for each of you today.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU!
